Professor Anthony Mathur

picture31Professor Anthony Mathur graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Medical Sciences and trained in Cardiology. He undertook a PhD that involved stem cells biology and heart disease at University College London and was appointed as a senior lecturer and consultant cardiologist at Barts and the London NHS Trust, now Barts Health NHS Trust, in 2001. Anthony is Principal Investigator on two of the largest clinical trials in the UK for the use of stem cells in patients with heart disease. Prof Anthony Mathur is Chairman to the European Society of Cardiology Task Force for stem cells in cardiac disease and has advised the DoH on stem cell policy. Professor Mathur is also a Trustee of the Heart Cells Foundation who, as well as Barts Charity, provided funding for the first stem cell trials.”
