Prof Anthony Mathur

Prof Anthony Mathur PhD FRCP FESC
Anthony is a Professor of Cardiology at Queen Mary University of London and Director for Cardiovascular Research at Barts Health NHS Trust. He is also an adjunct Professor for the Department of Medicine, Yale, and an Honorary Professor at University College London.
Anthony specialises in interventional cardiology and aims to develop new techniques and devices to treat patients with heart disease who fall outside the remit of current recognised therapies. His research interests primarily concern the role of stem cells in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. Anthony was also the Chief Investigator for the largest first Phase III trial of cell therapy in acute myocardial infarction. Anthony sits on several international advisory boards, ranging from academic (European Society of Cardiology) to charity (Heart Cells Foundation). A Trustee of the Heart Cells Foundation Charity, he heads the Compassionate Treatment Unit for Heart Failure at St Bartholomew’s Hospital which is the UK’s only centre to treat heart failure patients with their own cells on compassionate grounds. Anthony holds multiple patents covering technologies in the cardiovascular space, and directorships in medtech spin-outs.

Prof John Martin

Prof John Martin
Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at University College London and Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Yale University. He studied philosophy in Spain and medicine at Sheffield University. At UCL he leads the Yale UCL Collaborative. He is an academic researcher and a clinician and has ongoing clinical trials in patients using stem cells.

Adrian is a Partner and Head of Competition at Dentons UKMEA LLP in London, part of the world’s largest law firm. Adrian has been a Trustee of the Heart Cells Foundation since 2007. He is also a Trustee of The Camperdown House Trust, which supports a leading youth organization, and was previously a member of the Finance Committee of a state primary school.

Mike Clasper is currently Chairman of SSP Group PLC and Chairman of BIOSS, a small global consultancy company. He is a member of the Aviation Advisory Board of the Arora Group. He was non-executive Chairman of HM Revenue & Customs. He was Chair of Coats Group PLC and Senior Independent Director at both Serco PLC and ITV PLC. He was Chairman of the commercial arm of Which?, a subscription online and offline publishing business. His executive career spans Procter & Gamble, BAA PLC and Terra Firma.

Antoinette is a residential search agent for high end Clients both in the UK and overseas, for over three decades. She enjoys overseas travel, trekking and the arts. Antoinette is enjoying being part of the events committee and determined to continue fundraising for the charity.

Susan James

Susan James
Susan has worked in fashion for many years, having left St Martin’s School of Fashion and Design to pursue a career with a renowned knitwear designer. Transferring these skills she entered the family business designing and manufacturing stunning Cocktail and Evening Wear. Susan is now devoting her time to her passions in life, Golf, Bridge and her charitable work. When not travelling the world, a large amount of Susan’s time is spent working with various charities including helping to organise the very successful annual Heart Cells Foundation Film and Gala Dinner which is the highlight of the events calendar. Susan has been involved with Gala Film Night since the beginning.
