Owen Palmer

In memory of a beloved friend, father, grandfather, husband
and son

Owen was a beloved friend, father, grandfather, husband and son, who despite being fit and healthy had a heart attack in 2010. The Heart Cells Foundation is a charity close to our hearts as they gave Owen more than anyone ever could, a further 10 wonderful years of life when we had previously been told there was no hope of him getting any better. Owen passed away before his time but not as a result of his heart attack in 2010. Although we still feel his loss deeply, we are comforted by the many additional memories the extra 10 years blessed us with. Knowing that we could have been in this position 10 years ago makes our memories that much more special.

Thanks to the Heart Cells Foundation, Owen was able to live on and help his children on their academic journeys, see the birth of his 4 grandchildren, marry the love of his life and be around for William Shatner’s trip into space! He was once again able to take part in the sports he loved, such as fencing and golf. He was given a quality of life that had not seemed possible.

Owen Palmer was loved by many. The short time since his death has highlighted how amazing he was, and the value and impact he had on people’s lives. The wisdom he imparted shaped the lives of many, and the love and respect he received and gave is something the world will miss. As a friend, he was always there with an infectious laugh that would brighten anyone’s day. He was the most loving and honourable husband; the most inspirational father and grandfather; and the most supportive son.

The Heart Cells Foundation was Owen’s second family and the work they do meant the world to him. They gave him hope and years of life for which he was eternally grateful. He was dedicated to this charity and did all he could to support them. The Palmer family would like to continue this dedication and honour Owen’s life by supporting this wonderful charity. So that other families may have the same opportunity we were lucky enough to have, please donate to the Heart Cells Foundation where you can and spread the word about the inspiring work they do. Thank you.
