Patient Power to deliver the Commonwealth Games baton in 2022
We are delighted that Barry Newman has been chosen to be a baton bearer for Yorkshire on the 13th July 2022 for the Queens Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games in the name of the Heart Cells Foundation.
The Queen’s Baton Relay returns to England this summer when it will be carried across the country by inspirational baton bearers, each with incredible stories. They have been selected in all nine regions of England, and reflect the diversity in communities across the country.
“Join with me and support the Heart Cells Foundation by donating to celebrate this momentous occasion.
I’ve had some very proud moments in my life most of them down to my son Robert Newman, words will never explain how proud he makes me. Being able to carry the baton for the Commonwealth games is just an honour and a privilege l will be so proud to wear the uniform. I have been nominated to carry the baton in the name of Heart Cells Foundation because if it wasn’t for their work in helping patients just like me I would have been dead and gone years ago.
As a result of the endless work as a charity that they do to fund the ground breaking work carried out at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London (Which is not on the NHS yet) I’m still alive to even do this marvellous, once in a lifetime thing. So from the bottom of my reconditioned heart from me and my family and friends I thank Heart Cells Foundation for the Gift of Life. XXX”
